1st anniversary

Had an amazing 1st anniversary with John yesterday. I got a very cute totoro pencil pouch, Godiva chocolates, a plush bull dog puppy, and a pair of beautiful Tiffanys earrings in sterling silver. I am one lucky girl! I got John the Rosetta Stone in Italian and made him a very cute handmade card. Can't believe it's been a year already.

The Yellow Wallpaper

No more than a few weeks ago, I came across this eerie short story. How? Just randomly. "The Yellow Wallpaper" was penned by an American writer named Charlotte Perkins Gilman. You may read the story here. It is written in first person as journal entries. It is about a woman who has been confined to an upstairs bedroom by her physician husband in order to aide her of her depression. She becomes obsessive over the yellow wallpaper in the room due to the lack of stimulation she is exposed to in her confinement. She begins to imagine women creeping in the patterns of the wallpaper and believes that she is one of them. She becomes even more insane as the story progresses. Mrs. Gilman wrote the story based on her own experience as a patient. She too was put on a "rest cure" for her depression. She couldn't do anything to stimulating except for 2 hours a day! I myself would have gone insane if I had to forego that kind of treatment. It was a very interesting read. Go ahead and check it out for yourself!

Hello Kitty mini tea set

A year old Birthday gift from my girlfriends in San Diego. I had expressed to them my interest in tea sets and they sent me this Hello Kitty mini tea set. How adorable! For Christmas they had sent me an adult size tea set LOL! They are the best.

spa day

My girlfriends and I at a hot spring in Beverly Hills (yes, Beverly Hills). I'm not sure about the authenticity of the hot spring since it's in the middle of a city but they claimed they were a real hot spring. Nonetheless it was very relaxing and worth the money.

Crime Inc

John and I watched an interesting episode of Crime Inc. last night regarding counterfeit goods. I was always opposed to this sort of business. I would always feel dirty going into those kinds of shops. I'd much rather have the real thing. If I can't afford it, it's no big deal. I just won't own it. I can admire the item as much as I like from the window display or my computer screen!

oh dear sun

Wishing the weather would improve over here! For goodness sake, it's summer! What's going on here? I don't remember last summer being like this. I miss laying out on the beach with my 'lil cannoli (John) as he bronzes under the hot hot heat of the sun. I am extremely tired of spending my free time indoors like a hermit. There are so many times that one can go to the movies and the mall without being totally bored. Where are you sun? Come out and play! We miss you! You can leave your friend humidity at home.

John D. Rockefeller

"I was early taught to work as well as play,My life has been one long, happy holiday;Full of work and full of play-I dropped the worry on the way-And God was good to me everyday."

-John D. Rockefeller

These are words that I wish to live by but we all know how difficult that may be. I do know that God has been good to me everyday. Despite the hardships that I have faced, I am grateful for all that has been given to me. I admit there have been times that I have been questionable (who hasn't?) about his grace. I had been foolish. I appreciate life and the many gifts that I have been blessed with. I am an incredibly lucky woman. I hope that one day all this hard work will pay off and that I will be alive and well to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I am just happy to have the ability to work and take care of myself. I know that some people are not able to do that. I'm loving life and wish it would never end.

we need a picnic!

I believe that John and I deserve a picnic on a nice warm sunny day. We'll drink ice cold lemonade and eat tasty sandwiches under the warmth of the sun. Bugs won't be bothersome, they'll mind their business just for us on that nice sunny day. We'll talk about random things while cuddling on our picnic blanket and exchange sweet 'lil kisses. Our bellies will feel content from our delicious lunch. Crossing my fingers right now for that day to come real soon!

Happy Friday!

The weekend has taken it's sweet time getting here...but it's finally Friday! I am extremely exhausted from work but can't wait to get things done this weekend. Our house is in dire need of a good cleaning. I am quite ashamed of myself. We have just been soooo busy and tired!Unfortunately John has work tomorrow but that gives me the time to get his anniversary gift all ready to go. I promised myself that I wouldn't procrastinate on this. I can't believe it has almost been a year already. Time has just flown by. We are already half way through 2012. It's kind of scary how quickly time has sped up as I have gotten older. It feels like just yesterday that I was in high school. I wish time would slow down a bit. How funny that at work, time seems to slow waaayyyyyy down! What's up with that? Not only will I get things done this weekend, I will also take time to recuperate for the long week ahead of us. I anticipate another long work week ahead. I hope that everyone stays safe and enjoys their weekend!

Core your favorite kind of apple and cut it up into 1/2 in. slices (this will be your bread). Slather on some peanut butter topped with chocolate chips, nuts or granola (up to you) on your "bread". Enjoy your sandwich!

A total must have.

kalbi nom noms

John and I love us some kalbi! I always enjoy the short ribs that he grills at home. It's much tastier than any restaurant we've been to. He makes plenty every time.

inspiration for the day

Feeling incredibly inspired by this beautifully decorated living room! It seems so light, airy, and comfortable. If only we had the living room space!
